4 star hotel
Area: Financial District
0.49 mi from Coit Tower
Best Rooms: For the best view of the bay, as well as of Coit Tower and the Bay Bridge, be sure to book a Bay View room. Ask for one that has a balcony, so you can really experience the views. These rooms exist even on the highest floor, alongside the uber-expensive suites, so they're quite a steal.
Best Rooms: The hotel is near the pier, but because the hotel is only four floors high, there isn't much of a view of the bay. Rooms with city views are also quieter than the south side of the hotel, if you'd prefer not to stay on the courtyard side of the hotel.
4 star hotel
Area: Fisherman's Wharf
0.64 mi from Coit Tower
Best Rooms: The hotel offers limited views of the city, and a handful of rooms on floors 4 - 5 offer views of Alcatraz, so be sure to request them specifically.
Best Rooms: Most rooms have views of the city; rooms facing California St. have obstructed views from floor 8 and below, while rooms facing Mason St. have good views of the city from floors 5 and up. Rooms on the northeast side, on the higher floors, offer views of the bay.
Best Rooms: Rooms ending in *20 through *30 (e.g. 1520, 1625, 1730) offer views of the bay. Keep in mind, however, that the hotel is angled. Rooms with balconies offer you the ability to step out and get a better view of the bay. The Regency Club levels are on floors 16 - 17.
Best Rooms: The hotel is only 7 stories tall, so you won't find much in the way of views. However, some of the King rooms facing Bush Street offer views of Chinatown.
5 star hotel
Area: Financial District South
0.95 mi from Coit Tower
Best Rooms: The majority of guest rooms face the interior courtyard of the hotel. The exterior rooms have views of Market St. and New Montgomery St.; rooms with street views must be booked when making your reservation.
