Our take on San Francisco Marriott Union Square

Which Marriott are you? Within a few blocks of each other near Union Square, you'll find three different sister properties -- each with its own personality. But this sister won't stand in the shadow of the others, and it's just as pretty. Following renovations in 2009, guest rooms are modern, airy and well-equipped: a media dock connect to any gadgets you please, while pillow top mattresses with down blankets beg for a warm body. Some of the higher floors offer views of the bay or downtown San Francisco, and when the lights go down in the city, you'll realize why this place was the inspiration for the Eagles' song. From the hotel, you can venture out into just about any tourist destination. So hop on the cable car passing in front, and go explore.

Insider Tips on the Best Rooms at this Hotel

Quiet Rooms

As you're in the heart of Union Square, you may want to get up to at least floor 18 to get away from the street noise. Light sleepers should be aware that there's a conference/meeting space on floor, 30 which often holds weddings. That means that noise may travel down to rooms on floor 29.

Rooms with a View

Rooms facing north face the bay, while rooms facing south look toward downtown. For a view of the bay, however, you'll want to book a Bay View room specifically, and request to be above floor 21.
