Our take on InterContinental Mark Hopkins

A well-known landmark amongst San Francisco's Nob Hill hotels, the InterContinental Mark Hopkins is one of the city's grandest properties and has been known as such since it opened its doors in 1926. The hotel offers nearly 400 guest rooms and suites that range from the 300-square foot standard room to a variety of suites that may offer upwards of more than 1,000 square feet. And thanks to its ideal positioning at the top of Nob Hill, most guest rooms benefit from spectacular vistas. In order to find the most spectacular views in the house (and in the city, by many accounts), locals and hotel guests alike flock to the InterContinental's Top of the Mark. Found on the 19th floor, patrons can sip on one of the lounge's 100 signature martinis while enjoying 360-degree panoramas of the city.

Insider Tips on the Best Rooms at this Hotel

Quiet Rooms

There are 2 suites directly underneath the Top of the Mark. When bands play in the lounge, these suites may hear some noise. To get away from the street noise, request a room on or above floor 7, but below the Top of the Mark.

Rooms with a View

Most rooms have views of the city; rooms facing California St. have obstructed views from floor 8 and below, while rooms facing Mason St. have good views of the city from floors 5 and up. Rooms on the northeast side, on the higher floors, offer views of the bay.
