Our take on Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

For those in town for a convention, it doesn't get much more convenient than the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. Within a few block radius, you'll not only find the convention center, but the myriad restaurants and shops of the Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, the Seaport Village Shopping Center and Horton Plaza. When you've worn yourself visiting all the sights, come back to a spacious room, outfitted with a large flatscreen TV, a reading chair with an ottoman upon which to rest your worn-out feet and Hilton's signature pillow top mattress with a down comforter. When you're ready to venture out again, be sure to soak in some of that California sun by the hotel's outdoor pool. Just don't forget your sunscreen.

Insider Tips on the Best Rooms at this Hotel

Quiet Rooms

The train runs near the west side of the hotel, so light sleepers will want to request a room facing away from Martin Luther King Promenade and closer to K St., on a higher floor.

Rooms with a View

You can get views of Petco Park from the higher floors. However, you won't get any bay views, as the hotel isn't quite high enough to peer over the convention center, which blocks the water views.

Oversized Rooms

If you can spring for a suite, consider booking one of the Terrace Lofts facing 5th Avenue. While they don't offer any special views, they're quite a bit larger and more luxurious than the other guest rooms. One caveat is that they face the nearby Hard Rock Hotel, where you might hear noise from frequent parties. If you need some extra space without booking a suite, request a corner room, as these are slightly larger than other rooms within the same category.
