Our take on The Standard East Village
The Cooper Square Hotel is a modern, 21-story glass structure that offers guests contemporary boutique accommodations ideally situated between downtown and midtown Manhattan. Opened in 2008, the hotel takes a modern approach to hospitality. In lieu of an official check-in desk, patrons are ushered to the lobby's library, where they can enjoy a free welcome drink and peruse the hotel's extensive collection of reading materials while they wait for their room to be ready. It's hard not to be impressed at the wall-to-wall windows, especially if you end up in a guest room or suite on an upper-floor. Aside from spectacular views, accommodations are decked out with 400-thread-count Italian linens, state-of-the-art technologies including Blu Ray DVD players and, not just one, but three robes--one that's plush, one that's lightweight and even a sexy, silky one. Faustina is The Cooper Square Hotel's newest dining venue, and thanks to its chef who's already made a name for himself in the ever-evolving NYC restaurant scene, it's been a hot spot for foodies since it opened its doors in early 2010.
