Our take on The St. Regis New York

When the St. Regis was completed in 1904, it was New York's tallest hotel, and here, you'll certainly feel like you're on top of the world. As the city has grown around it, St. Regis has only grown more gracious. Located in the heart of Manhattan, it's close to Central Park, Fifth Avenue shopping, the Museum of Metropolitan Arts, NBC Studios and many corporate headquarters. No detail is left unchecked in the richly appointed guest rooms, with custom-made furniture, silk wall coverings, Pratesi bed linens with Egyptian-cotton sheets, down comforters and terrycloth robes. High ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows complement the Edwardian elegance. Style and grace continue in the Italian marble bathrooms with separate showers and tubs, and double sinks. Other amenities include a fitness and spa center, and access to 24-hour English-style butler service. Place yourself in the lap of luxury; place yourself at the St. Regis.

Insider Tips on the Best Rooms at this Hotel

Quiet Rooms

Light sleepers should request an interior room, but if you want an exterior-facing room that's quiet, request to be on floors 12 - 19.

Rooms with a View

Surrounded by other buildings, there are no real views offered; request a room on a high floor facing E. 55th St. for the best possible view.

Oversized Rooms

Rooms are ordinarily the same size within their set categories.

Best Rooms

If you're looking for a view of Central Park, be sure to request a room above floor 7, because some of the trees across the street can block the views from lower floors. Parkview Deluxe Rooms are the best option for a view of Central Park because they're located on the higher floors (12 and higher). If you'd like to stay in a suite, Deluxe Parkview Suites and Premier Parkview Suites both provide views of Central Park. All rooms and suites with a view are non-smoking and have 1 king bed. There aren't any rooms with double beds that offer views.

Best Rooms

The hotel isn't high enough to provide spectacular views, but a room facing the exterior will give you a nice view of Madison Ave. or 52nd St. If you'd like a street view and a quiet room, a Premier Room above floor 8 is likely your best option.

The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria New York

5 star hotel

Best Rooms

Since the tower rooms start on floor 28, virtually every room has a good view of the city. However, the best views come from Luxury Suites located at the corners of the hotel, as these rooms have more expansive city views. Also, lots of guests tend to prefer rooms that face the East River; these rooms are available in almost every category.
