Our take on Ala Moana Hotel
Although it primarily caters to business travelers attending functions at the nearby Hawaii Convention Center, the Ala Moana Hotel's low nightly rates are often more affordable than staying in Waikiki -- which could make it an attractive option if you're a traveler on a budget. (Note: If that does sounds like you, you may want to avoid the upscale shopping mall of the same name that's connected directly to the hotel.) No matter where or how you manage to spend your vacation funds, you'll be glad to at least you did so wisely on a recently renovated room that's been decked out with a flat-screen TV, stylish stainless steel appliances and more. For the biggest bang for your buck, be sure to request accommodations in the Waikiki Tower, as it's the only one to offer private balconies for every room.
Insider Tips on the Best Rooms at this Hotel
Request a room above floor 10 to get away from street noise, which can be considerable.
Rooms with a View
While this isn't an oceanfront property, there are rooms that provide an ocean view. Request a room on a higher floor to avoid any obstruction from surrounding buildings.
Overall, the Waikiki Tower offers better views of the ocean, city and mountains than the Kona Tower.
