Our take on The Palmer House Hilton
As the longest continually operating hotel in North America, it's no wonder that the Palmer House Hilton has garnered a reputation for being a lavish and elegant hotel for Chicago travelers throughout its years. Re-opened in 1872 after the Great Fire of Chicago claimed the hotel's first incarnation, it's been host to every president since Ulysses S. Grant and a list of celebrities including Judy Garland, Oscar Wilde and Frank Sinatra, to name a few. Most recently updated in 2008, the guest rooms of the Palmer House Hilton feature modern amenities like pillow top mattresses dressed with fine European linens, clock radios with MP3 connectivity and wireless internet access (surcharge). Like other Hilton properties, the Palmer House offers Executive Level accommodations, which include the added perks of bathrobes, in-room DVD players and access to the Executive Lounge, which serves a daily continental breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres.
