Our take on InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile

Originally built as a Shriners' athletic club in the late 1920s, the InterContinental Chicago combines historic charm with modern luxuries to create a truly distinct hotel experience. Whether you're doing laps in the hotel's ornate junior-Olympic sized pool (once frequented by Johnny Weissmuller, of Olympic and Tarzan fame), or attending an event in the Grand Ballroom with one of the largest chandeliers in North America, the building's opulence and antique detailing are ever-present. The hotel is one of the only ones in downtown Chicago to feature a main entrance onto busy Michigan Avenue, giving you front-row access to all the excitement the Mile has to offer. So even if you're not King of the Castle or King of the Jungle, a stay at the four-star InterContinental Chicago will nevertheless make you feel like king (or queen) of something.
