As a San Francisco resident and hotel aficionado, I’m often often asked by visiting friends where they should stay in the “City by the Bay.” When seeking out a 5-star experience in San Francisco, there are some stellar options that’ll impress even the most discerning of hotel lovers. Before you start your search, it’s most important to identify what you desire most out of your experience.
Traditional Elegance
The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco (rates from $429) is renowned not only in the city, but within the Ritz-Carlton chain as well. Perhaps more opulent than its competitors, the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco prides itself on remarkable service and a decor for traditionalists. This property is perched on Nob Hill, which offers one of the most best vantage points from which to enjoy sweeping views of the city.

Unparalleled Service, Understated Elegance
The Four Seasons San Francisco (rates from $605) offers a central location right on Market Street, which runs through downtown San Francisco. The hotel’s location in the Financial District makes it particularly convenient for financial movers and shakers.
