Dear TripKick Travelers,
It’s been nearly five years since I co-founded TripKick.com, but the time has come to say goodbye. Trip Kick was launched to the public in 2008, bringing consumers a level of transparency rarely seen in the hotel world. The mission was simple: show our users the very best hotel rooms across the globe. While the mission was simple, the task of garnering this unique content wasn’t; we canvased the globe over the past several years, seeking out the very best in hotel content so our users would know exactly which rooms to request.
Shortly after Trip Kick’s launch, we were quickly lauded by the press and praised by our users. Time magazine named Trip Kick one of the top 50 Websites of 2008 and Travel + Leisure magazine shortly followed, extending a similar distinction. Trip Kick was often dubbed the “SeatGuru for Hotels.”
Trip Kick was acquired by Room 77 in 2010, allowing us to better position our content within Room 77′s propriety room-mapping technology platform. We were able to integrate Trip Kick’s room-level data into Room 77′s database, giving Room 77 users powerful information about their hotel and resort room choices. From this, the Room 77 Room Concierge Program was born–a fantastic service provided exclusively to Room 77 customers. Again, the mission is simple: get our customers into the best rooms. What’s the big difference you might ask? Now WE do all the work! I’m pretty sure we’re the only travel site who makes this promise, and I couldn’t be more excited about leading this effort.
While the actual Trip Kick site will be going away, the vision to get travelers into better rooms will not. Trip Kick’s room-level data has been migrated to Room 77, and we hope that all of our loyal Trip Kick users will continue to visit us at Room77.com. It’s been a remarkable journey, and I would like to extend a big thanks to each and every one of our fans who made it all possible.
Happy travels,
